If you haven’t used lockdown to binge-watch the Best New Shows On Netflix, you’ve been doing it all wrong. We understand that the world can feel quite heavy at the moment, and rightly so, but if you need to take a break to protect yourself or momentarily relax (or even if you want to dive deeper, these are the series’ that need to be on your radar. Cosy up, grab some snacks, and lose yourself in a new series.
13 Reasons Why (Season 4)
13 Reasons Why is the show that gripped the generation. Known for exploring in-depth issues that teenagers actually face in high-school, the fourth and final season is every bit as gripping as the first three – and every bit as heartbreaking. Trigger Warning: sexual assault, rape, murder, suicide, mental health.
Outer Banks
Surfing, hidden treasure, a generation-long mystery, and teenage angst. With beautiful surfer boys. This series tells the tale of life on the Outer Banks, where people either come from everything or nothing, and there’s a legend of missing gold that’s anyone’s for the taking. And can we just say, John B? We love you.
The Last Dance
Michael Jordan. One of the best, if not the best, player of all time. Raw footage, exclusive interviews, this series has it all for any basketball fan – or anyone who’s ever heard of basketball.
Too Hot To Handle
Beautiful people, a tropical island, a huge cash prize, and one game-changing rule. Too Hot To Handle follows the ups and downs of being extremely attractive, while trying to keep it in your pants. It’s so bad, but so, so good.
The Witcher
We’ve been loving Netflix’s The Witcher throughout isolation, but let’s just say, it’s not for the plotline. With a, ahem, very visually appealing cast, this show is one to binge watch with your girlfriends and a glass or two of wine.
Self Made: Inspired By The Life Of Madam C.J. Walker
With the BLM movement shining a light on our need to show more BIPOC on the big screen, this inspirational story couldn’t have come at a better time. Octavia Spencer is every bit as wonderful as her famous role in The Help, and we can’t get enough.
Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich
It’s not the easiest or most comfortable watch, but this four-part docu-series chronicles one of the most talked about cases in the country. The story is told through the narration of his victims, and covers it right up until the end. Trigger Warning: sexual assault, suicide.
I Am Not Okay With This
Bing watch this Gen Z story that follows a teenage girl who’s navigating the trials and tribulations of high school, all while dealing with the complexities of her family, her budding sexuality, and mysterious superpowers just beginning to awaken deep within her.
Tiger King
There’s no chances you haven’t come across the cult sensation, Tiger King, in the last few months on the internet. Illegal tigers, music videos, missing husbands, con artists, barn explosions, reality shows, and a hitman… There’s nothing this rollercoaster of a series didn’t uncover, where every three minutes could be a show of their own. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so darn crazy.
